The Tampa Mustangs (Bell) Ladies fastpitch team is part of the The Tampa Mustangs Organization, one of the most longstanding youth fastpitch teams in Florida.  Entering into his seventh year as Head Coach, Joe Bell has a vision for every one of his players to take her softball, academics and individuality to the next level.  In 2010, Mustangs Bell competed in several high profile tournaments,  including an impressive 3rd in the Louisville Slugger Independence Day Invitational in Longmont, CO as well as an excellent showing at ASA 16U Nationals in College Station, TX in August.  Mustangs Bell  moved up to the 18U Gold Division in the Fall of 2010 and played in several tournaments to include the Southern Force Showcase Tournament and the Kissimmee Gold Showcase Tournament.  In 2011, their first year as a Gold Team, they became one of  only two Tampa Mustangs teams to qualify and participate in Gold Nationals, the last being in 2003 Gold Nationals in Salem, OR.  This years team worked hard to represent the East Coast softball teams, placing 7th.  The girls are ready to start working for Oklahoma City in 2012, on a quest for a Gold National Title for the Mustangs Organization.   Taaaaaaaaaaaampaaaaaa!  HUH!

   Tampa Mustangs Gold (Bell) would like to congratulate our All County Players for the 2011 High School softball season.

   Topping the list is Mya Anderson, the senior outfielder from Sickles High School who is bound for Chipola Community College. Mya was selected to the All Western Conference first team as well as the Hillsborough All County first team. She also racked up the Hillsborough County Softball Player of the Year. Mya ended the season in regional play with a .553 batting average and a .967 slugging percentage with 52 hits, 33 RBI's and 7 homeruns.  Mya was also selected to the Miracle Sports All State First Team in Class 5A.

    Rising Senior Jordan LaFave, who attends Durant High School, was also selected to the All Western Conference first team as well as the Hillsborough All County first team.  In the outfield, Jordan was error free this year, and offensively batted .429 through the post season with 36 hits, 35 runs and a .560 OBP.  In the annual Spring Fling Tournament Jordan batted .967 over the 4 game series and was voted to the All Tournament Team and tournament MVP.  Jordan is verbally committed to attend Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.  Jordan is a Miracle Sports All State Second Team Selection in Class 5A.

     Rising senior Aleima Lopez attends Deltona High School.  The junior shortstop is now a three-time selection on the greater Orlando first team.  Aleima batted .421 with 22 runs and led the Wolves with 29 RBIs. Aleima is also a member of the Puerto Rican Women's National Team.  She is verbally committed to Florida International.  Aleima is a Miracle Sports All State Second Team Selection in Class 6A.

    Senior Xiomara Perez, who attends East River High School in Orlando, Florida, was selected to the All Orange County Team as well as the All Central Florida softball team.  Xio helped lead the Falcons to a District title in just their second year.  Defensively Xio was a standout catcher and offensively she hit .359 with 22 RBI's.  Xio is the first athlete at East River High School to receive a Division I athletic scholarship.  She signed her National Letter of Intent with Mississippi Valley State University in April 2011.  Xio was selected for the class 6A All State Second team by Miracle Sports this season.

      Rising Junior Lissette Garay, who attends All Saints Academy in Winter Haven, FL walked away from this season as 1A Player of the Year after helping lead her young team to the 1A playoffs.  She also posted All County Honors.  The right hander had a great season on the mound, as well as offensively, with a batting average of .500.  She is also a member of the Puerto Rico Woman's National Team.  LIssette is verbally committed to The University of South Florida.

    Graduating Senior Blaire Kelley, a University of Central Florida signee, brought home first team All Marion County Honors as a Utility Player.  Blaire split her time pitching with a 1.22 ERA and 172 strikeouts, and playing shortstop.  At the plate, she batted .444 for the season and helped lead her team to the 3A regional finals.

 

    Rising Senior Krista Garcia, who attends Tampa Catholic High School, was selected All County Honorable Mention for Hillsbourgh County for the 2010-2011 high school softball season.  Krista is still undecided where she wants to play softball at the next level.
